IMA Enterprises was founded in 2003 by business finance expert, Ami Baker. With a team of experienced finance and bookkeeping specialists, IMA offers clients a full range of services from preparing a company for investment and raising funds to managing routine financial processes and providing crucial management information.

We are based in period offices in the historic city of Bath.

Our team is led by Ami Baker and Jayne Mulligan. Theirs, and other team members' profiles are all below:

Ami Baker, Managing Director

Ami Baker (MA Oxon.) has over eleven years experience working at senior executive level in venture capital and corporate finance, including being part of a City team raising debt for a large public to private leveraged buyout.

In 2003 Ami set up IMA Enterprises with the vision of providing corporate quality professional services to SMEs at affordable prices. She has always believed that small businesses should receive equally good service as large companies. She has also found that the experience she has gained running her own company has made her very understanding and empathic with smaller clients.

Ami has become a respected and well-know local business women. Accordingly she is regularly asked to present at events, participate in panel discussions and judge business plan competitions. Recent invitations have come from the South West Regional Development Agency, HMRC, Bristol Enterprise Network, Business Link and all three local universities. In January 2008 she was personally asked by the Secretary of State for Business and Enterprise, John Hutton, to consult on the new Enterprise Framework at a round table discussion at 10 Downing Street, where she meet the Prime Minster and sat at the Cabinet Table. Ami is also a member of the Sustainable Growth Partnership for B&NES and a Princes Trust Mentor. Ami's focus is on managing the business and securing finance for clients.

Jayne Mulligan, Director

Jayne Mulligan is a CIMA qualified accountant with over 25 years of experience. Career highlights include being Chief Accountant at Bristol Airport during its transition from public to private and her role as Finance Manager for Great Mills, where she was responsible for successfully re-engineering the accounts department and reducing the head count from 73 to a little over 40. She has also held senior positions at British Aerospace, Somerfield, Lloyds TSB and stock brokers Hargreaves Lansdown. Immediately prior to joining IMA Jayne was running her own company JDM Accountancy Ltd.

Jayne manages the IMA bookkeeping and accountancy services division of the business. She is also responsible for all operational, financial and HR activities.

Liz Semple, Accountant

As well as being a qualified Chartered Management Accountant, Liz Semple has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Bath University. She is highly experienced in a manufacturing accounting context, while also having experience in other industries. Liz's other roles have included District Accountant at Air Products and Financial Analyst at Somerfield - the latter including justifying new store developments. She also worked at Claverham Ltd as both the Management Accountant and subsequently as an IT analyst as part of a SAP implementation.

At IMA Liz is a part-time team member and client account manager.

Harish Gunatilake, Assistant Accountant

A highly skilled and motivated part-qualified (ACCA) accountant, Harish takes an innovative, meticulous and flexible approach to problem solving. Harish has held supervisory positions in accounting in large London and Bristol companies, and has proven his abilities in managing complex accounts, defining company direction, achieving targets and developing new and repeat business.

Harish is responsible for managing junior bookkeepers and reconciling accounts.

Kate Lane, Credit Controller and Client Manager

Kate has been with IMA since 2005 in which time she has showed an incredible flair for credit control. Prior to joining IMA, Kate's previous experience encompassed office administration, PR and marketing as well as financial data entry and client account management.

Kate's role makes the most of her varied background by combining credit control duties with customer liaison and diary management.

Dave Clipson, Junior Bookkeeper and Purchase Ledger Clerk

Dave's career has spanned both finance and IT. He performs data entry and other bookkeeping duties, as well as acting as a client liaison. Since being with the company Dave has acquired substantial on-the-job training and experience. He will shortly begin studying for an NVQ in bookkeeping.

Dave's responsibilities are focused on purchase ledger processing.

Sean Hoskin, Payroll Supervisor

Sean provides complete payroll functions for the team.

Luke Morris, Junior Bookkeeper

Luke is a bright and hard-working second-year undergraduate student at Bath Spa University studying Business Management (BA). Luke is beginning a year's work experience with the IMA team this summer. He will be learning about all aspects of the business whilst performing basic bookkeeping duties.

Hannah Levbarg, Research Team Manager

Hannah is a writer with more than 10 years experience in a number of business sectors including web site development, design and PR, law, corporate finance and publishing. She was director and manager of an independent bookshop in Bath at which she generated start-up finance through production of a strong business plan. Hannah holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Oklahoma, where she was heavily involved in public health-oriented research and analysis.

Hannah excels in business writing and takes an organised and creative approach to project management. She is responsible for the corporate department's delivery of written material and reports and for managing the part-time temporary researchers that sit within it.

Part-time researchers

Edward Elias, a PH Engineer student at Bath university, and Ben Rendtroff who is currently studying for an MSc in entrepreneurship at Bristol University form IMA's part time temporary research team.

Chris Parker, Head of Business Development

Chris is an enthusiastic and creative international business development specialist with extensive experience promoting new products and services into large and smaller organisations world-wide. His particular interest is in creativity and innovation and taking new technology products and services into new markets.
